Stadium History
Ohio Stadium opened on October 7, 1922, with Ohio State defeating Ohio Wesleyan 5-0. The stadium cost $1.3 million and seated 66,210. The distinctive horseshoe shape was chosen to save costs (the original design called for a complete bowl). Major renovations from 1998-2001 added upper decks to the south end zone and luxury suites, bringing capacity over 100,000. The stadium is home to the legendary Script Ohio halftime tradition.
